Tourism is the primary source of income for the Bahamas, and it attracts people from all over the world due to its wonderful all year round weather, friendly people, the simply stunning land and seascapes and the many things to do and see.
However, there are two sides to tourism in the Bahamas. On the one hand there is Nassau and Paradise Island, which offers ready-made entertainment, vibrant bars and restaurants, mass tourism….on the other is the group of out islands, known locally as The Family Islands, where the pace of life is slow, you need to make your own entertainment, the restaurants and bars are low key and relaxed, the locals are genuinely friendly and welcoming, like no where else on earth. At the top of the list of out islands is Exuma, arguably The Bahamas’ prettiest island, where you really do swim with turtles and rays, spot dolphins and see myriads of tropical fish, beach comb on completely deserted beaches, find your own coconuts and ask locals how to open them, and relax in the most stunningly beautiful water you have ever seen in your life.
Getting to the Bahamas Family Islands is actually quite easy….
There are regular direct flights to Georgetown Airport (GGT) from Miami with American Airlines, Fort Lauderdale with Bahamas Air and Continental Airlines, Toronto with Air Canada, and Atlanta with Delta Airlines.
For our European guests, British Airways flies directly into Nassau, with plenty of time to catch a same day flight from Nassau to Exuma with Sky Bahamas or Bahamas Air.
Once at Georgetown Airport, it’s only a 15 minute taxi ride to the apartments.
